Oscoda Fields Trunk or Treat: Oct. 24

Oscoda Fields Assisted Living and Memory Care will host an annual truck or treat at 5 p.m. Oct. 24. Organizers are still seeking participants to pass out or donate candy. The center is located at 5113 Cedar Lake Road.

“Come join us for a ghoulish time,” the event’s description on social media reads. “Fun for the whole family!”

Third Annual Oscoda Trick/Trunk or Treat: Oct. 25

J&D Events and Marketing will host the Third Annual Oscoda Trick/Trunk or Treat at From Huron Out from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25. The event was previously held downtown. There’s plenty of parking available, according to details on social media, and no cost to participate.

Businesses, organizations and families are encouraged to bring a trunk, canopy or booth to hand out candy and keep the tradition going. Visitors can expect treats, prizes for best costume, a children’s party beginning at 4 p.m. and an adults party later in the evening.

The Great Pumpkin Carving

Keep an eye out for details on The Great Pumpkin Carving, an annual tradition at Pinecrest Cemetery in Oscoda. The observance began in December 1989, when family members placed a pumpkin at the grave of a local teen killed after being struck by a car. Each year, more community members joined in, and the collection grew.

Now, volunteers carve hundreds of pumpkins in the week leading up to Halloween, according to local Shannone Bondie. After the pumpkins are lit, visitors can drive or walk-through to see the impressive display.
