XC Adventure on the Corsair Trails

If cross-country skiing is just your speed, Corsair Trails is your perfect destination for days of deep woods exploration, on well-groomed trails.  The Corsair system is one of the largest groomed XC skiing trail networks in Michigan. Three groomed ski trail loops total 28.3 miles of trails. Experience sunny open vistas, stands of fir trees and towering hardwoods along the edge of winding, ice-locked streams.

This trail system is a shared effort between the U.S. Forest Service and the Corsair Trail Council and is very well cared for by dedicated volunteers. If you aren’t already geared up for this adventure, ski rentals are available at Nordic Sports Adventure Outfitters in East Tawas.

Once you have enjoyed your day of winter trail exploration, head to Wiltse’s Brew Pub. Wiltse’s is a local favorite and is one of the first brewpubs in the state. They welcome you with a relaxed vibe, comfort food, and good beer. The game room features cornhole, pool, shuffleboard, and more. This is just the place to wrap up a day exploring the trails of Oscoda.

Wide Open Winter Trails

Oscoda is the eastern gateway to the northern Michigan snowmobile trail network. Our trail map will show you how to access the trails right from downtown Oscoda, connecting as far as you want to go through the Huron National Forest and beyond.

After a day of winter trail riding, head back to Oscoda to warm up at the Hilltop Bar & Grill on Mill St. in Oscoda. The Hilltop is one of the oldest bars in northeast Michigan, residing in the same location since 1884. Burgers are the big draw, Friday night is popular for the fish fry, and Saturday night it’s the prime rib dinner. The Hilltop’s friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere makes it the perfect small-town hangout!
